Feb 2, 2008 Lab Day

Wayne State Formula SAE had a great lab day this Saturday. The team set out to get a good start on reassembly of the 2008 car and the 2006 car.

We all split up into groups to work on separate areas. The Powertrain team worked on tuning the 2008 engine, another team worked on reassembly of the 2008 car and yet another team worked in the machine shop to re-fabricate suspension components.

The 2008 car reassembly got off to a good start early Saturday morning with Dan Fryatt setting up teams for suspension assembly and a group to do some machining work. Due to our machine shop not being open however, we could not finish all the suspension components.

We made a lot of progress on assembling the 2008 car and ended up having all the front suspension reassembled by the end of the day. The brake system also was re-installed with ease. Once the brake system was re-installed, we also installed the steering system and attached the tie rods to the front kingpins.

The team had a great day of learning and team building and made good strides to getting the car back together. We look forward to our next meeting on Friday February 6th after the general team meeting to continue the reassembly process. We will then follow it up with a Lab Day on Saturday Feb 7th.
